For more than two decades he has worked in the field of design for sustainability. Recently, his interests have focused on social innovation, considered as one of the major agents of change. On this topic, DESIS has promoted and currently chairs: an international network of design schools specifically active in the field of design for social innovation towards sustainability, with application in various fields, including urban regeneration.
He is currently Honorary Professor at the Politecnico di Milano , Distinguished Professor of Design for Social Innovation at Elisava – Design School and Engineering (Barcelona), Guest Professor at Tong ji University (Shanghai) and at Jiangnan University (Wuxi).
In parallel with his involvement in the area of design for sustainability, he has explored and promoted the potential of design in the field of Strategic Design in the 90s and of Service Design, in the last 10 years, always with reference to design themes territorial and urban regeneration.
